Why You Should Have a Wide Array of Silk Shirts in Your Closet

Silk shirts are in style for more reasons than one! Sure, the silk shirts look amazing, no matter which style you get. They’re just stunning. Even silk ties look good in them sometimes! Even though the traditional long-sleeved silk shirts tend to come to mind whenever you picture this cool, calm, devastatingly stylish individual, there are other silky styles as well, such as tank shirts, Hawaiian-style shirts, and a very special bodysuit to name a few.

One of the top ten reasons to own a couple of silk shirts is that they are so versatile and practical for almost any occasion. If you have a work-related job, a pair of silk shirts can be worn with a t-shirt or a dress for a formal office party. If you don’t work for an office, a nice pair of silk shirts can be dressed up with a cute little dress for your daughter’s tea party or a friend’s birthday. No matter who you are or what you want to be doing with your wardrobe, silk shirts are always a good choice because they’re so versatile!

One of the primary reasons to own a couple of these shirts is because they’re so easy to take care of. These days it seems that everyone has a dry-cleaner or some sort of washing machine at home that makes it quick and easy to wash silk shirts. Unlike cotton shirts that can shrink after washing, silk shirts are supposed to shrink up to a certain size. That means that if you wash them every two weeks or so, they will remain nice and wrinkle-free. If you have a washer that gets plugged in all day long, they’ll still be perfect in a week’s time.

Another reason to own a couple of silk shirts is that they’re a very practical wardrobe staple. If you own any type of functional clothing (which means that it can be worn as intended), then you should consider having a few pairs of silk shirts in various sizes and colors. For example, let’s say that you own a black silk shirt that you want to wear to go to a wedding with your best friend. Instead of taking a bright pink or orange dress, you can opt for a gray silk shirt to wear with her ensemble. It will be just as classic (and just as beautiful) as if you had gone with a bright pink dress!

When shopping for a silk shirt that you’re going to use for a formal occasion, try to find one in a style that you’ll actually like wearing. A silk shirt or a pair of fitted pants should look good on you, but you don’t want them to look too dressy or like you’re going to break out the minute you put them on. If you have a bit of a heavier figure, consider buying a silk shirt or two that’s cut to flatter your body. That way, they won’t look heavy on you, but instead provide a bit of balance and help to balance out your figure. Silk tailored trousers are a great example of this, as they’re cut slimmer at the leg and slightly longer in the torso, providing you with a bit of a sleeker silhouette.

Finally, avoid buying shirts that require dry cleaning only, especially if you have a silk shirt that’s washed on a regular basis. Drying silk takes a lot longer than washing it in the washing machine, so make sure that you consider the extra time necessary to properly dry your shirts before you put them away. While a washed-clean shirt doesn’t need dry cleaning, they do require a little TLC once you’ve got them out of the washer and onto your dryer, so it might be a good idea to just wash them according to the directions for regular shirts and avoid using the dryer.
