Lifetime Achievement Award
The American Film Institute has announced the recipients of its annual Lifetime Achievement Award. In their respective years, the award has gone to a number of notable filmmakers, including John Ford, Orson Welles, Bette Davis, and Henry Fonda. The awards honor a person’s lifetime achievements in the industry hiperdex, and some of the most notable past recipients include Bette Davis, James Stewart, and Orson Welles.
This year’s honoree was Denzel Washington. The actor was announced as the 47th recipient of the honor. The ceremony will take place in June in Los Angeles, with a live telecast later on TNT. In accepting the award, AFI Board of Trustees Chairman Sir Howard Stringer lauded Washington as “an American icon.”
Graduate conservatory program
The AFI Conservatory offers a two-year graduate program that results in a Certificate of Completion or Masters of Fine Arts. It focuses on documentaries, giving students the tools they need to produce and direct documentaries. Each student is required to complete a project, which is judged by a blue-ribbon panel. Students are exposed to a mix of traditional and modern coursework in toonily. Alumni include Darren Aronofsky, Caleb Deschanel, Brad Falchuk, Rachel Morrison, Scott Frank, and Janusz Kaminski.
The AFI Conservatory’s online degree programs are aimed at students from all walks of life. Among its students are 118 White, 20 Black, and 22 Asian students. In addition to students of all ages, there are two students under the age of 22 and nine individuals over the age of 65. Overall, the school enrolls about 235 students between the ages of 22 and 40. The school has a diverse student body and is welcoming of newcomers.
The Harold Lloyd Library contains books and periodicals about motion picture production and television, costume design, literature, and art and architecture. It also houses an extensive collection of unpublished and published scripts. The Library also holds transcripts of the Harold Lloyd Master Seminars, which feature interviews with industry professionals from all aspects of the film and television industry. Researchers can request these materials by appointment, but must ask permission before copying them. The Library does not circulate these materials.
The American filmdaily Institute Catalog includes more than 48,000 film records. This authoritative catalog includes newly released and updated records for a number of films. In addition to its printed version, the AFI Catalog also includes the American Film Institute’s top ten films from 2000 to 2010.
